Kiki: I think a lot of us struggle with, you know, okay, I’ve got a relationship with God the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. I’m going to Mass. I’m receiving the Eucharist. I’m getting myself to confession, but I’m still struggling with knowing God’s will in my life. Like, you know, should I do A or should I do B?

One of the things that I loved in your workbook on this that you started with is that we tend to think too small.

Terry: Yeah. Smallness thinking. I think the first time I learned that is, again, back in my early days of discovering who God the Father really is and talking to my spiritual director about things. I was driving in the car and I was upset with God. I was really feeling let down and feeling, you know, “Is God really going to answer my prayers or not? He answers other people’s prayers. Why isn’t he answering my prayers?”

As I was driving along, I heard—not audibly, but as strong in my heart as one could hear—God the Father saying, “You’ve boxed Me up. You’ve got Me in a box. Open up the box.”

So I’m like, “Oh, a box. I mean, that’s a limited thing and God is infinite.” So I pictured myself opening up the box and God just grew from being in the box to infinitesimally, you know, larger than the universe. And that was something that also impacted me because it was the beginning of my realization that we think of God in terms of limitations instead of His infinite love, His infinite caring, His infinite forgiveness, His infinite embrace.
